Malvern's most famous son is Sir Edward Elgar
who drew inspiration from the hills and the countryside around. He was born in Broadheath, a few miles away, but lived and worked in Malvern for most of his life and is buried at St. Wulstan's Church in Little Malvern. Visitors can follow the Elgar Route and find for themselves places that were a part of his life and work

ELGAR IN ONE MINUTE: One of Britain’s best-loved composers. Elgar’s First Symphony was given over a 100 performances in the first year of its life. His Cello Concerto is the most popular of all concertos for this instrument. Not always at ease as a public figure, Elgar was also a keen amateur chemist, and a Shakespeare scholar. "Land of Hope and Glory" has become an unofficial second national anthem. Elgar was knighted in 1904, and appointed Master of the King's Music in 1924.

Worcester Cathedral
Worcester Cathedral has been a place of prayer and worship since 680 AD. The present building was begun in 1084. Its many attractions include: King John's Tomb, Prince Arthur's Chantry, the early 12th century Chapter House and St Wulstan's Crypt.
Entry is free. The Cathedral is open and staffed on every day of the year from 7.30am to 6pm.
There is always a member of the Clergy available.

Worcestershire Cricket Club

Worcester Rugby Club
Home to the Worcester Warriors. Worcester Rugby Club are in the Premiership for the first time in their history. Their Sixways ground is the envy of many other clubs.
Worcester RFC was founded by the Reverend Francis John Ede with the first recorded game being played against the Artillery on November 8th 1871. They started playing at Bevere in Worcester in 1954. In 1974 they left Bevere for Sixways. The new clubhouse at Sixways was opened in 1975. They were promoted to the Premiership as champions at the 2003/2004 season
